Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other marked vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations suggest the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; authorities are currently not informed of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials said they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the community for details.
A high-ranking political figure commented the incident rendered him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman focusing on residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
